A duvet is not a comforter, and a comforter is not a duvet.  They are completely different things, even if some people confuse them.  When choosing a luxury bedding set, you will need to know what a duvet is so that you know what you are buying.

A duvet, which is a quintessential part of luxury bedding, is basically a replacement for all of your covers and blankets.  In general, you’d want to use a duvet on top of a sheet, and that’s it.  You also would want to use a duvet cover since they are made of a type of down that is incredibly hard to get clean.  If you have a dog or something that likes to sleep on your bed and make a mess of it, then a duvet might not be for you.  In fact, luxury bedding probably isn’t for you.

Anyway, duvets are warm without being stifling, something that most comforters can’t really claim.  When you’re browsing luxury bedding sets, consider if a duvet will go with your other luxury bed linens.  There’s no point in buying a duvet if you plan to have other covers and blankets as well.

The main thing to remember before spending your money on any luxury bed linen beyond a sheet is that a duvet is meant to replace much of what would come in most luxury bedding sets.

It’s worth noting that finding luxury baby bedding with a duvet included is probably not likely to happen.  There are a few likely reasons for this.  For one, duvets are more expensive to produce, and those companies who make luxury baby bedding know that you’re far less likely to spend big bucks on your kid than yourself.
